Technical Info

The Atola Forensic Imager enables the user to create the perfect imaging process to meet the needs of a case by adjusting simple parameters. It is able to image damaged or unstable hard drives in the field that cannot be imaged by regular forensic products.

This means technicians can image more hard drives in the field without needing to take them back to their labs. By accessing more sectors it is able to deliver a more complete image and more data for evidence. Multiple hashing methods are available and they are calculated on the fly (while the image is being written). GList auto reallocation can be disabled to prevent the hard drive from contaminating evidence by remapping sectors.

Main Imaging Parameters:

Calculate checksum on the fly (MD5, SHA1, 224, 256, 384, 512)
Disable GList auto reallocation
HEX pattern to fill skipped sectors (00 by default)
Image file size (chunk size)
Timeout length (after failed sector read attempt)
Number of sectors to skip after failed read attempt
Number of imaging passes
Apply Read-Long command on last pass
Reduce HDD operating speed to PIO mode
Copy direction (forward/linear or reverse)
Specify read/write heads to transfer from
Abort duplication after X amount of HDD power cycles
